Lakeweed control this week at Lake Rotoiti, Rotorua Lakes
11 May 2006
Recreational users of Lake Rotoiti in the Rotorua Lakes area are advised that the herbicide diquat gel will be applied to Te Weta Bay and Okere Inlet on 11 or 12 May.
The work is part of Land Information New Zealand's ongoing aquatic weed control programme in the area.
As a precautionary measure only, users are advised not to take drinking or irrigation water from the vicinity of the treatment sites until 24 hours after treatment.
If conditions aren't suitable, the work will be carried out on the first suitable week day the following week. Treatment will not take place during weekends or public holidays.
