Prices for LINZ Bulk Data Products Fall
11 September 2009
Prices for several LINZ products and services have changed with new regulations taking effect today. The changes follow a review of pricing carried out to ensure LINZ fees and charges reflect the cost of service provision.
Highlights include significant reductions in the fees for bulk topographic data and bulk survey and titles data. There are small reductions in the fees for hydrographic charts and the NZ Nautical Almanac publication.
The bulk data extract for land title and survey information will cost $53, down from $270.
Under the amended regulations, the charge for the New Zealand topographical database will fall from $1,500 to $84 (1:50,000 scale) and from $100 to $84 (1:250,000 scale). The last major reduction in charges for the national topographical dataset occurred in 1999, when the price fell from $1.8 million to $1,500.
Prices for individual 1:50,000 scale topographical maps will also fall when they are relaunched as the Topo50 map series on September 23.
The price reductions reflect improvements in the technology used to produce the above products.
Charges for statutory certifications of land will align more with their complexity. The charge for certifications of legal description only (for example, a section 116 Land Act certification) will fall from $32 to $22.50, whilst the charge for more complex certifications (for example, for a QE II covenant) will increase from $32 to $67.50 to reflect current costs.
Charges will increase for LINZ services supplied in exercise of functions under the Public Works Act 1981, Land Act 1948 and related legislation. Read more here.
The fee changes come under the Land Information New Zealand (Fees and Charges) Amendment Regulations 2009.
