LINZ 2008/09 Annual Report

20 October 2009

Land Information New Zealand’s (LINZ) Annual Report for 2008/09 was tabled in Parliament today.

The Annual Report is a public accountability document published annually, which details LINZ’s performance against its stated outcomes and strategic objectives for the previous financial year.

2008/09 was a year of significant achievement for LINZ, with major milestones reached in the delivery of some key projects:

  • 100% electronic lodgement of survey and title transactions became mandatory in February 2009. With transaction processing times reduced by 30%, electronic lodgement has created significant benefits for those transacting in or developing land.
  • We significantly revamped the way we collect, maintain and deliver our land and seabed information. New electronic navigational charts were rolled out from November 2008, and a new national map series – Topo50 – was readied for launch last month.
  • Our regulatory interventions have been reviewed, and our optimal (fit for purpose and not over- or under-regulating), risk-based approach supports economic growth and business productivity.
