Report Released on LINZ’s Performance & Capability
LINZ has released an independent report on its performance and capability, undertaken as part of the Performance Improvement Framework introduced by the State Services Commission.
The framework aims to drive performance improvement across the State services. Independent reviewers use the framework to assess and rate the performance and capability of government agencies.
“Taking part in the framework has been useful for LINZ and confirmed we are operating well and are positioned to achieve the goals outlined in our 2010/2013 Statement of Intent,” says Chief Executive Colin MacDonald.
In particular, the report recognises LINZ’s goal of maximising the impact of geospatial information on New Zealand’s economy, and validates many of LINZ’s existing and planned activities in support of this direction.
“By identifying areas for improvement, the assessment also sharpens our focus, particularly in terms of prioritising and reviewing work that runs across the organisation. We have developed an action plan to address the recommendations made in the report,” Colin says.
The action plan sets out what LINZ will do to:
- establish a stronger influence over the use and re-use of New Zealand’s geospatial information
- drive an improved customer experience for its customers, and
- ensure LINZ’s people, culture and capability align to support its strategic direction.
LINZ is one of the first agencies to take part in the framework, along with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Department of Conservation and Te Puni Kōkiri. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Department of Internal Affairs participated in a pilot of the framework in 2009.
The framework is expected to be applied to all significant public service agencies, and some of the most significant Crown entities, over the next three years. Repeat reviews after two to three years will monitor progress against the baseline provided by the initial review.
