'Innovation in Action' Grabs LINZ Support

8 December 2010

Land Information New Zealand has been announced as the sole platinum sponsor for the 2011 Surveying and Spatial Sciences Conference 'Innovation in Action - Working Smarter'.

"This conference is a fantastic opportunity for New Zealand to showcase the amazing and innovative work that we have going on across the surveying and spatial information fields," says Kevin Sweeney, Geospatial Custodian for the New Zealand Geospatial Office.

"We're all excited about the conference being held in Wellington, and especially that we get to play this significant role. This will be the premiere geospatial event for 2011 and there are so many opportunities to promote and grow our industry."

The conference is being held in New Zealand for the first time, and will be taking place in Wellington between 21-25 November 2011. It is the result of a joint effort between the New Zealand branch of Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute, and the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.

"The deciding factor in LINZ’s selection as platinum sponsor is the relationship LINZ has with both the surveying and spatial sciences communities. LINZ has also been involved in New Zealand’s participation in the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information, and has embraced the formation of the Spatial Industry Business Association," says Conference Convenor Karl Majorhazi.

"This conference is going to bring some of the key geospatial players internationally here to Wellington, and we will be working with the conference committee to ensure that this conference is a huge success, that puts Wellington firmly on the geospatial community’s map," says Kevin.
