LINZ launches a new property addressing information section
17 July 2012
LINZ has added a new section to its website to provide you with information about property addressing
LINZ is responsible for setting standards on property addressing throughout New Zealand and for recording the addresses assigned by territorial authorities. We’ve launched a new section on our website to help explain the importance of addressing, highlight various roles and responsibilities, and provide information and guidelines about addressing standards.
We all routinely use a property address to send and receive mail and packages, or to identify a place we are trying to find. Good addresses also enable the emergency services, including civil defence organisations, to do their work quickly and efficiently, often in life threatening situations.
Good addressing also oils the wheels of business – it costs business and government agencies time and money when people or events cannot be readily located due to poor addressing.
It’s important therefore that all properties are clearly and consistently addressed, and that the related address information is readily available to the community. LINZ is working on a number of initiatives aimed at improving the quality of addressing and the universal availability of high quality authoritative address data.
You can see our new property addressing section here.
We will update the ‘Latest news and updates’ pages every few months. If you’d like to be notified when this happens, please subscribe here.
