Information Technology Group

The Information Technology Group is responsible for managing IT operations and LINZ’s relationship with IT providers. They facilitate IT solutions to fit LINZ’s evolving business needs. They inform and lead the IT strategic and architectural direction and performance.

LINZ's Chief Information Officer is Russell Turner (pictured). Russell became CIO in January 2011, and has recently overseen a major outsourcing exercise.

Russell has been in the IT industry for over 25 years. His career has spanned most key roles from software developer, analyst, consultant, and project manager through to project director and CIO roles.

Formerly CIO of the NZ MetService, Russell ran the complex software development and operations required for a 24x7 safety critical business as well as providing products for international customers.

IT Operations Team

The IT Operations Team manages IT contracts and oversees day-to-day service delivery.

IT Project Delivery Team

This team facilitates IT solutions to business change needs. They perform business analysis on LINZ systems including Landonline, working with subject matter experts from across LINZ. This allows leveraging of business analysis capability as LINZ’s business needs change, and enables common frameworks and tools to be used.

IT Strategy & Performance Team

The IT Strategy and Performance Team leads the IT strategic and architectural direction, and performance.
