Current Projects
Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is responsible for annual hydrographic work programmes that support its products and services. LINZ is also leading projects that are of interest to mariners.
Hydrographic Survey Programmes
LINZ undertakes Hydrographic surveys to continually improve the data it holds on New Zealand's seabed. This data is in turn used to update charts and publications. Hydrographic Charting Programme
LINZ continues to improve the charts that it prints for New Zealand. New charts are produced when new survey data becomes available. Charts are also reprinted regularly to include Notices to Mariners and replenish stocks. Continental Shelf Project
The New Zealand Continental Shelf Project is a $44 million Government funded programme over seven years to collect data for New Zealand's Continental Shelf submission. Information from marine surveys will underpin New Zealand's submission under the UN Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to establish the precise outer limits of the ocean floor under our jurisdiction.
Raster Navigational Chart (RNC) Project
LINZ has completed the production of RNCs for New Zealand users called NZMariner. These are have chart images that can be used in electronic charting systems. NZMariner is available from LINZ chart retailers.
