Hydrography is the science of surveying and charting the sea floor and coastlines for navigation and other purposes.

LINZ's role

Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is the National Hydrographic Authority of New Zealand. It produces official navigational charts and publications for professional mariners. We are also responsible for gathering technical data for New Zealand's continental shelf submission to the United Nations.
