Survey report

All Cadastral Survey Datasets (CSDs) lodged with LINZ are required to be accompanied by a survey report that explains the purpose for which the survey was conducted, how the survey was completed, and how the prescribed standards have been complied with.

Survey report template

The survey report template was developed by LINZ in consultation with professional surveying bodies to help surveyors better understand compliance requirements and reduce the requisition rate. The use of the template is voluntary.

For surveyors who have used the existing Survey Report Template:

• Updated Version of the Blank Survey Report Template (April 2006) - the blank version of the survey report template has been modified in terms of the feedback from users (surveyors and LINZ staff).
  
  This updated version retains the original numbering and headings but is stripped of the explanation notes. Some headings (2, 3, 10 and 17) have been refined by breaking them down into respective sub-headings.

For surveyors who require more information about what data is required to be supplied in the Survey Report and the requisitions applicable to each area of the report, see the following documents.

1. Survey report template - this is a base document that can be used to complete the information required by LINZ to enable the approval of a CSD. It contains notes indicating the information required under each of the report headings.

2. Additional information for the survey report template - this document is to be used as reference material in association with the survey report template. It contains information about where requisitions would be issued under each of the survey report headings and a rationale as to why particular information is required.

Completing the survey report template

1. Enter information against all headings - if the heading is not applicable for the particular type of CSD lodged, "Not Applicable" or "N/A" should be stated. This will indicate that the surveyor has considered and made a judgment on that item.

2. Follow the order of the report headings - the order has been agreed with the NZIS and ICS. To maximise efficiencies, LINZ staff need to know where in the survey report to look for particular information.

3. The format of the form may be altered - the format may be altered provided the headings are retained in the same order as on the template. Firm logos and firm information may be included. The additional information under each of the headings may be hidden or deleted.

Requisition/resubmission fees

To encourage the use of the template, LINZ will waive the requisition/resubmission fee until 1 September 2007 for any surveyor who fully completes their survey reports in terms of the template, should their survey attract a requisition.
