Core Paper Records Project
The aim of this project was to design a strategy that enables core survey and title paper records to be accessed when required, stored appropriately and preserved for the future. This project is now complete and the document available on this website (see below).
Core Paper Records Strategy – Future proofing core survey and title paper records (October 2007)
LINZ has released its strategy for managing core survey and title paper records in the future. The strategy, which has been approved by the Minister for Land Information, aims to enhance access to more than 167 years of historic paper records.
The key points of the strategy are:
- internet access will replace public counters at LINZ processing centres
- important historic paper records will be copied into digital format so they can be protected and more easily accessed
- paper records will be stored at Archives New Zealand, or with a third-party storage provider, and
- a governance structure will be established to oversee the work.
LINZ has started to plan for the implementation of the strategy which is likely to take five to 10 years.
