Description
A document is a legal document such as a transfer of ownership, a mortgage or an easement. LINZ has documents that date back more than 160 years.
A transfer of ownership document lists:
- seller's name
- buyer's name
- dates, etc.
LINZ holds documents digitally (find out about Landonline) and as paper records (find out about historic land records).
The most common types of documents are:
- transfer
- mortgage
- discharge mortgage
- easement
- covenant
- lease
- restriction
- caveat
- transmission.
Research & ordering
You can order a copy of a document if you have its document number, including any prefix. You can find the document number (eg Transfer 12345) on a title (computer register). Order a copy of a land record...
