Maerewhenua River Rabbit Control Operation (Site 2)

Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) advises that hand laying of carrot baits containing sodium fluoroacetate (1080) will occur in the Maerewhenua River between 23 June and 28 July 2008.
Description of area:
The area being treated involves up to 50 ha of Crown-administered riverbed from an area adjacent Dip Hill Road and the Earthquake Road Bridge.
Please note that hand laying of the toxic baits will be preceded by application of non-toxic baits to ensure against bait shyness. Toxic carrot baits will be dyed green.
This pesticide is poisonous to humans and domestic animals. The area is to be treated with caution until 28 January 2009.
