Lake Okataina Weed Spraying Notice

Recreational and other users of Lake Okataina are advised that the herbicide diquat, in gel form, will be used in the lake's boat ramp area and foreshore area.

The work is scheduled to begin from Tuesday 19 February 2008 and may continue intermittently to Friday 29 February 2008 as weather and water conditions permit. Treatment will not take place during weekends.

As a precautionary measure only, Land Information New Zealand advises users not to take drinking or irrigation water from the vicinity of the treatment sites until 24 hours after treatment.

Notices will be placed with Radio Bay of Plenty and on our website 24 hours before the planned spray dates. Warning signs will be placed at each treatment site before the herbicide is applied and will be removed 24 hours later.
