Activities Over Crown Pastoral Land Requiring the Consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands

The administration of Crown pastoral land is governed by the Land Act 1948 and provisions of the Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998. These Acts specify when the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands is required prior to undertaking an activity over Crown pastoral land.

It is important that all transactions involving Crown land are undertaken for clear, consistent and justified reasons, comply with the legislation, and are completed and recorded in an accurate and timely way. Forms have been developed to assist you in your request for the consent of the Commissioner.

For the process to run smoothly, it is important that you provide all of the information set out on the forms.

If you have any questions, or there is any doubt about whether or not a proposed activity requires consent, please contact the LINZ Pastoral Team prior to carrying out any work (see Crown property contacts).
