Survey Control Networks

New Zealand’s survey control system comprises physical control marks and information about them to enable the coordinates of other points to be determined. The control system is segmented into six control networks which provide control marks for specific purposes.

Each control network has its own accuracy, monumentation and information requirements that relate to the particular networks purpose. The requirements for each network are specified in the Standard for the NZ Survey Control System (LINZS25003) and the Guideline for the Provision and Maintenance of the Survey Control System (LINZG25704). Control marks are assigned to one or more control networks if the achieve the requirements for each network.
