ANZLIC Metadata Profile

The Australia New Zealand Land Information Council (ANZLIC) Metadata Profile (version 1.1) is the recommended e-GIF geospatial metadata standard for use by New Zealand government agencies. The Profile was endorsed by the State Services Commission in July 2010, following a consultation period which showed support for the Profile from the geospatial community.

Local government and Crown research institutes are also encouraged to use the Profile and private industry is free to use it as well.

The Profile allows for the consistent collection of metadata (or information about data) across New Zealand and Australia. The Profile defines a minimum set of elements that must be collected for spatial datasets and other resources. It also provides the flexibility to capture more information about a dataset or resource in order to meet specific business requirements.

The Profile is based on the international standards ISO 19115 2005 and ISO 19139 2007, and replaces the New Zealand Geospatial Metadata Standard (NZGMS) v1.2 (June 2004).
