NZGO Now Part of the LINZ Website

28 August 2009

The LINZ website has a welcome addition – a whole new section dedicated to the New Zealand Geospatial Office (NZGO).

The NZGO is located within LINZ’s Strategic Development and Support Group and has a central role in helping LINZ to implement the New Zealand Geospatial Strategy.

“LINZ is committed to leadership in geospatial information, a direction made clear in the department’s latest Statement of Intent,” says Acting Geospatial Custodian Adam Cooper.

Visit the new NZGO pages to find out more about LINZ’s leadership in geospatial information, background to the NZGO, and just what geospatial information is.

What’s happening with the old NZGO website?

Previously, the NZGO’s home on the internet was at www.geospatial.govt.nz, which contained information about the NZGO and the New Zealand Geospatial Strategy. It has now been renamed – to New Zealand Geospatial Strategy – to reflect a greater focus on the Strategy.

As Adam explains, “We want to make it easier for people to engage with the Strategy, and to make the work, ideas and communications around the Strategy more open and accessible. As well as renaming the site, we’ve incorporated some blog functionality to allow for open comments and feedback. We’ll also be posting content contributed by guests from the geospatial community.”
