Lakeweed spray notice, Lake Wanaka

1 May 2007

Recreational and other users of Lake Wanaka are advised that the herbicide diquat, in gel form, will be used in Paddock Bay, Lake Wanaka for lakeweed (Lagarosiphon) control.

The work is scheduled to be carried out no earlier than Wednesday 9 May and may continue intermittently until 30 June 2007, as weather and water conditions permit.

As a precautionary measure, users are advised not to take drinking or irrigation water from the vicinity of the treatment sites until 24 hours after treatment.

Warning signs will be placed at each treatment area before the herbicide is applied.
