Lake Wanaka Lakeweed Control

30 July 2007

Herbicide spraying to control Lagarosiphon programmed for Paddock Bay, Bishops Bay and Stevensons Island last week has not taken place due to poor weather and lake conditions. The work will go ahead on the first suitable day and may continue intermittently until 28 September 2007, excluding weekends. Warning signs will be placed at authorised public boat ramp sites during treatment and taken down 24 hours later.

For your own safety and the safety of the contractors undertaking the work, lake users are asked not to use the treatment sites while the herbicide is being applied. The herbicide will be applied by helicopter.

As a precaution only, users are advised not to take drinking or irrigation water from the vicinity of treatment sites until 24 hours after treatment.
