Search Help
You can use our site search to search for a single word, multiple words, a single phrase or multiple phrases.
Word searching
Keyword searches look for specific words that are entered into the search field, eg survey. If you are searching on multiple words, use spaces to separate them, eg survey cadastral.
Boolean
Boolean operators allow you to refine your searches so that you can find, for example words that appear together on a page. The LINZ site search supports the "and" "or" and "not" operators. Here is an explanation of those operators and how to use them.
| Operator |
When to use it |
How to use it |
| And |
To find two or more word used together on a page |
Separate the words with a space and use + and no space before the next word, eg survey +system |
| Or |
To find any of the words on a page |

| Not |
To find a word but not where its used together with another word |
Separate the words with a space and use - and no space before the next word, eg survey -system |
You can use any combination of boolean operators in a search, eg topographic +maps -antarctic (find topographic and maps together but not when used with antarctic.
