New Zealand Nautical Almanac (NZ204)

The New Zealand Nautical Almanac (NZ 204) is published annually by LINZ. It covers the period 1 July to 30 June and provides official information to aid safe navigation in New Zealand waters. It is produced by LINZ Hydrographic Services as required by New Zealand's obligations under the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO).

Carriage requirements

The requirements for ships to carry chart and nautical publications, including the Almanac, are set out in Maritime Rules Part 25 Nautical Charts and Publications (pursuant to Section 36 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994).

Reproducing content from the Almanac

Information reproduced or reprinted from the Almanac is not equivalent to or a replacement for the Nautical Publications specified in Maritime Rules Part 25 Nautical Charts and Publications (pursuant to Section 36 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994).

Notices to Mariners (NtMs) updates mariners fortnightly with critical navigational information, including official updates to the Almanac. The most common NtM corrections affecting the Almanac are amendments to the List of Lights.

Availability

The New Zealand Nautical Almanac 2009/10 Edition (NZ 204) is now available in hardcopy from chart retailers. This website also contains a number of Nautical Almanac Extracts.
