LINZ Hydrographic Services is responsible for:
- charting New Zealand waters for the purpose of safety of life at sea
- providing international standard hydrographic services
- production of nautical charts
- provision of nautical publications.

The user is reminded that the monitoring of broadcast warnings, particularly the International SafetyNET or NAVTEX Service (part of the International Maritime Organization's Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Broadcasts) can provide more timely access to important navigation safety information and should be routinely monitored.
