NAVAREA XIV Coordinator

As part of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) NAVAREA warnings are promulgated by the Worldwide Navigational Warnings Service (WWNWS) and are concerned with information which ocean-going mariners require for their safe navigation. This includes, in particular, failures of important aids to navigation, as well as information which may require changes to planned navigational routes.

The world is divided into 16 geographical sea areas (NAVAREAs), as shown on the map of areas covered by the NAVAREA radio navigational warning system. LINZ is the authority charged with coordinating, collating and issuing long range navigational warnings to cover the whole of NAVAREA XIV.

A list of NAVAREA XIV Warnings in Force is included in the fortnightly edition of Notices to Mariners.
