LINZ Enters Agreement to Distribute Electronic Navigational Charts

LINZ and the Australian Hydrographic Service have signed a new cooperative arrangement to better facilitate the international distribution of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) of the South West Pacific.

Under the new arrangement, LINZ will join the Australian Regional ENC Coordination Centre (AusRENC) as a participating hydrographic office. AusRENC is a satellite office of the International Centre for ENCs (IC-ENC). Both New Zealand and Australian ENCs will now be distributed through AusRENC.

LINZ's participation will help ensure that each ENC distributed through the Regional Coordination Centre will have consistent and quality information, data integrity and will be available internationally to mariners.

"This agreement formally establishes the cooperation within the South West Pacific Region and is the culmination of years of work to produce and distribute New Zealand electronic charts," said LINZ's Technical Leader Hydrography, Adam Greenland.
