Ocean Survey 20/20 Projects

The Ocean Survey 20/20 prioritised work programme of 56 projects includes projects that cover nine themes of:

1. sovereignty
2. coastal stewardship and management
3. natural hazards and risk management
4. maritime safety and security
5. fisheries
6. biodiversity and ecosystems
7. hydrocarbons
8. minerals and other physical resources
9. climate.

Ocean Survey 20/20 will be looking at the subsurface, seafloor, water column and atmosphere.

Completed Ocean Survey 20/20 projects

There have been three Ocean Survey 20/20 surveys completed so far:

• the Bay of Islands Coastal Survey Project
• the Chatham / Challenger Biodiversity and Seabed Habitat Project - Ministry of Fisheries, and
• the International Polar Year (IPY) Census of Antarctic Marine Life (CAML) Project - Ministry of Fisheries.
