Ms Sylvia Allan is one of New Zealand’s most experienced urban, rural and environmental planners.
She has worked in public, private and educational sectors.
She has owned and managed her own consultancy, and for 12 years headed the national planning team for a large multi-national engineering company.
She works widely around New Zealand and is familiar with a wide range of legislation and processes.
Ms Allan holds a BSc (Hons) in geography and geology, and a Diploma in Town Planning.
She is former President and a Fellow of the New Zealand Planning Institute, holds a Distinguished Service Award from that professional body and is a Justice of the Peace.
She is active in community affairs.
Ms Allan was first appointed in 1993 and was reappointed in 2007.
