NZGB to Consider Name Proposals
The New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (NZGB) will consider proposals to assign, alter, approve or discontinue names at its next full meeting - scheduled for 27 March 2009.
The deadline for proposals to the NZGB was 12 February 2009 (see NZGB sets deadline for proposing names). The NZGB is currently processing proposals, including the undertaking of any required investigation and research. The proposals are disseminated to NZGB members at least two weeks before the meeting. If the NZGB supports proposed names within New Zealand's territory, the NZGB will then publicly notify proposed names and call for public submissions.
Any proposals received late will not be considered until the next time the NZGB meets, which is approximately every six months.
