Deadline for Proposing Names Passed

22 June 2010

The deadline for making proposals to assign, alter, approve or discontinue names has now passed.

Proposals received before the deadline of 21 June 2010 will be considered at the next full meeting of the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (NZGB) on the 3 August 2010.

The deadline allows sufficient time to process proposals, including the undertaking of any required investigation and research. Proposals will be sent to NZGB members at least two weeks before the meeting. If the NZGB supports proposed names that are within New Zealand's territory, the NZGB will then publicly notify those proposed names and call for public submissions.

Any proposals received late will not be considered until the next time the NZGB meets, which is approximately every six months. A new proposals deadline and the date of the next meeting will be posted on this website, once a date has been agreed by the NZGB.
