Description

Hāwea Flat - small settlement located 5 km south of Lake Hāwea (proposed spelling). Topo50 map CA13 - Lake Hawea, GR 057 490.

Hāwea River - south flowing for 10 km from Lake Hāwea (proposed spelling) into Clutha River/Mata-Au. Topo50 maps CA13 - Lake Hawea, source: GR 025 535; CB13 – Tarras; and CB12 – Cardrona, confluence: GR 984 455.

Lake Hāwea - large lake east of Lake Wanaka, extending north-south for approximately 38 km, fed principally by the Hunter River at the north, and draining into the Hāwea River (proposed spelling) at the south. Lake Hāwea - small settlement located on the southern shoreline of Lake Hāwea (proposed spelling). Topo50 map CA13 - Lake Hawea, GR 036 535. Spelling alteration from Lake Hawea (macron to be added) and replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 2 June 1988, No. 93, page 2239.

Hawea Island - one of two islands commonly known as the ‘Outer Gilbert Islands’, south of Breaksea Island at the entrance to Breaksea Sound, Fiordland. Topo50 map CE04 - Anchor Island, GR 042 317. Spelling alteration from Hawea Island (macron to be added) and replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 24 September 1987, No. 163, page 4458.
