Description & location
Located adjacent to Wellington’s Centennial Highway (SH1), flowing southeasterly from the suburb of Johnsonville into Wellington Harbour (Port Nicholson), topographic map 260-R27,R28&Pt.Q27-Wellington, source: GR 615 964, confluence: GR 620 938. Replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 25 October 1951, No. 82, page 1607.
Waitohi has two possible meanings. It may be where the waitohi baptismal rite was performed, or may be named after Waitohi - the sister of Te Rauparaha.
