Notice of the Decision of the former Minister of Survey and Land Information re. the Assigning of a Place Name
Pursuant to Section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on the 8 December 1994 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to alter the name of Katui to Kaitui as stated in the first column of the Schedule below, to the place described in the second column of the said Schedule.
Objections were received to the proposed change of name and were dealt with pursuant to Section 13 of the said Act in 1995.
Pursuant to Section 15 of the Act, notice is hereby given of the decision on 10 October 1995 by the then Minister of Survey and Land Information, Denis Marshall, that the name Kaitui would replace the name Katui.

| Ross Sea |
74°00'S, 179°00'E. The Ross Sea is an extensive bight in the coast of Antarctica, almost due south of New Zealand. It lies between Victoria Land on the west and King Edward VII Land on the east, and is bounded southward by the Ross Ice Shelf. Its northern limit starts at Cape Adare at the west, and extends directly northward to 70° South Latitude; then easterly along 70° South Latitude to 170° West Longitude; then in a straight line running southeasterly to Cape Colbeck. It includes both the Pennell Bank and the Iselin Bank. |
