Pursuant to sections 19 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the 

New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of the final determination to alter an existing geographic name.
 
The altered geographic name is now an official geographic name and is specified in the first column of the Schedule below.
 
The geographic feature type that the altered geographic name relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule below.
 
The description of the altered geographic name is set out in the third column of the Schedule below.
 
The Board’s final determination on this altered geographic name takes effect on 10 May 2012.

Pursuant to sections 10(1)(a), 25 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of final determined Antarctic geographic names.

These are now official geographic names and are specified in the first column of the Schedule below (“the Schedule”).
 
The geographic feature type that they relate to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
 
The description for each name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
 
The Board’s final determination on these Antarctic geographic names takes effect on 10 May 2012.

Notice of the Final Determinations of the Minister for Land Information on Official Geographic Names

Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 (“the Act”), notice was given in the New Zealand Gazette, 9 June 2011, No. 81, page 1915, of proposals by the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) to assign new and alter existing geographic names.

Submissions received for the geographic name proposals were dealt with by the Board according to section 18 of the Act.
 
After considering reports from the Board, I hereby declare that my final determinations for the geographic names, made pursuant to sections 20(2) and 20(3) of the Act and, as specified in the first column of the Schedule below (“the Schedule”), are now the official geographic names.
 
The geographic feature types that these names relate to are set out in the second column of the Schedule.
 
The descriptions for these names are set out in the third column of the Schedule.
 
The date on which I made my decisions was 27 March 2012.
 
My final determinations on these names shall take effect on 10 May 2012.

Notice of Treaty of Waitangi Settlement Altered Geographic and Crown Protected Area Names for Ngāti Manawa

Pursuant to sections 60 and 93(6) of the Ngāti Manawa Claims Settlement Act 2012 (“the Settlement Act 2012”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of altered geographic names and a discontinued Crown Protected Area (CPA) name.
Schedule 1 below specifies the details of the altered geographic names; their geographic feature types; their descriptions; and their former names.
 
Schedule 2 below specifies the details of the discontinued CPA name; its generic term; its description; and its former New Zealand Gazette reference.
 
The official geographic names and discontinued CPA name took effect on 8 May 2012, being the date that the Settlement Act 2012 came into effect.
 
Pursuant to section 61 of the Settlement Act 2012, the Board may, in future, agree to alter any official geographic name, as listed in Schedule 1 below, with the consent of the trustees of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Manawa.

Pursuant to section 46 of the Ngāti Pāhauwera Treaty Claims Settlement Act 2012 (“the Settlement Act 2012”), the  New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of discontinued and assigned Crown Protected Area (CPA) names.
 
Schedules 1 and 2 below specify the details of the discontinued and assigned CPA names; their generic terms; their descriptions; and their former names, which took effect on 8 May 2012, being the date the Settlement Act 2012 came into effect.
 
For the CPA name listed in Schedule 2, under section 46(4) of the Settlement Act 2012, the Minister of Conservation must not change the name of the CPA listed, without the written consent of the administering body of the site.

Pursuant to section 67 of the Ngāti Whare Claims Settlement Act 2012 (“the Settlement Act 2012”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of altered geographic names.
 
The Board hereby also gives notice of an altered Crown Protected Area name, which has been altered in accordance with clauses 5.5-5.7 and 5.45 of the Ngāti Whare Deed of Settlement signed on 8 December 2009.
 
Schedules 1 and 2 below specify the details of the altered geographic and Crown Protected Area names; their geographic feature types or generic term; their descriptions; and their former names.
 
The official names took effect on 8 May 2012, being the date that the Settlement Act 2012 came into effect.
