Notice of Proposals to Assign or Alter or Discontinue Geographic Names
Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 (“the Act”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa hereby gives notice of various proposals to either assign new, or alter existing, or discontinue existing, geographic names.
The proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic names are specified in the first column of the Schedule below (“the Schedule”).
The geographic feature type that each proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic name relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description of each proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The date by which submissions must be received is provided in the fourth column of the Schedule.
Submissions on proposed new or altered or discontinued geographic names may be provided in writing to the Secretary of the New Zealand Geographic Board, c/o Land Information New Zealand, PO Box 5501, Wellington 6145. In accordance with section 17 of the Act, submissions must state with reasons, whether the proposal is supported or objected to and if an objection is made, then submissions may set out an alternative proposal, or support the existing name, if any.

Located on the ridge are a hill named Pukupenga at height 841m and the current official name of Stokes Peak which is proposed to be discontinued above. Notice of Approved Recorded Geographic Name
Pursuant to sections 10(1)(b), 24 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“the Board”) hereby gives notice of an approved recorded geographic name.
This is specified in the first column of the Schedule below (“the Schedule”) and relates to the geographic feature type listed in the second column of the Schedule.
The description of the approved recorded name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The Board’s approval of this recorded name takes effect on 26 January 2012.

Notice of Adopted Undersea Feature Names
Pursuant to sections 26 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the
New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“the Board”) hereby gives notice of 11 adopted undersea features names.
These are now official geographic names and are specified in the first column of the Schedule below (“the Schedule”).
The generic feature type that they relate to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description for each name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The Board’s final determination on these adopted undersea features names takes effect on 26 January 2012.

Notice of Final Determinations to Assign Geographic Names
Pursuant to section 16 of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 (“the Act”), notice was given in the New Zealand Gazette, 9 June 2011, No. 81, page 1915, of a proposals by the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“the Board”), to alter geographic names.
Submissions were received on the proposed geographic names and were dealt with by the Board according to section 18 of the Act.
The Board hereby declares its final determinations, made pursuant to section 19 of the Act, and hereby gives notice pursuant to section 21(2) of the Act, of the final determinations to alter geographic names.
The geographic names are now official geographic names and are specified in the first column of the Schedule below.
The geographic feature types that the geographic names relate to, are set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The descriptions of the geographic names are set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The Board’s final determinations on these geographic names take effect on 26 January 2012.
