Effective 6 December 2011, a revision of the interpretation guide has been published by the Surveyor-General to assist licensed cadastral surveyors with the interpretation of the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010.
Its purpose is to:
- complement the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010, the Cadastral Survey Act 2002, and other legislation relating to cadastral surveys, and
- facilitate correct interpretation of the Rules.
This updated version of the interpretation guide includes changes resulting from new legislation, changes to SG rulings, and material from surveyors' questions and feedback. Footnotes are provided where substantive changes have been made.
In addition an Interim guide to the amended Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 has been published to assist with interpretation of significant changes to the amended Rules which came into effect 1 January 2013. This interim guide supplements or supersedes some of the information in the Interpretation guide to the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 above.
The Interim guide will be integrated into the Interpretaton guide at a later stage.

- The interpretation guide may be updated from time to time following feedback received and it is therefore important to always refer to the online document.
- In the PDF version, from page 121, the hyperlinks (shown in blue) and the word 'find' function do not work. However, all hyperlinks in the Alphabetic index and the Table of contents do work correctly for the whole document. All hyperlinks in the RTF version work correctly.
Feedback on the guides is welcome. Updated versions of the guide will be published based on feedback received. It is therefore important that you always refer to the website for the most up-to-date version. Please send all feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org.
