Summary

(a) Two common requests by surveyors are for dispensation from the Surveyor- General’s Rules for Cadastral Survey 2002/2 to allow:

(i) previously unmarked boundary angles to remain unmarked on a new survey; and

(ii) a new boundary angle to remain un-monumented where the position falls in bush which is subject to a protective covenant.

(b) This Ruling describes particular cases where, pursuant to Rule 44 of the Surveyor-General’s Rules for Cadastral Survey 2002/2, the Surveyor-General is satisfied that it is not necessary to apply Rule 31 fully to a survey that would otherwise be a Class I, Class II or Class III survey and specifies different requirements.
