- Can a monumentation CSD be used for recording survey offsetting or survey traverses?
- No. A monumentation CSD must only be used for recording the placement of a boundary mark where the appropriate criteria have been satisfied (rule 11.1(a)).
- Is NZGD2000 orientation required for a monumentation survey?
- No. NZGD2000 orientation applies only where a survey defines or marks a new primary parcel boundary point (rule 4.1(a)).
- Can a Monumentation CSD include additional survey information, such as new and old marks and vectors used to support the boundary definition?
- Yes. Additional information is permitted including adoptions and traverse vectors should the surveyor decide that it is warranted. Note that new non-boundary marks must be included in the CSD (rule 9.6.2(a)). Note also that rule 14 “Retention of Field Information” also applies and field notes lodged with the CSD could include this information.
- Can a monumentation CSD be used to record the placement of a line peg?
- Yes, but only if the position on the boundary line already exists in the cadastre (rule 11.1). A new boundary position is not permitted to be recorded in a monumentation CSD.
- Can a monumentation CSD be used for the placement of a mark in a previously defined but un-monumented boundary position?
- Yes.
- Can the vector(s) shown in a monumentation CSD be calculated, and does the line between the non-boundary mark and new mark need to be inter-visible?
- The vectors may be calculated and the marks are not required to be inter-visible.
- If a surveyor simply uses a spray mark or non-standard mark when re-defining a boundary, are they required to put in a CSD?
- A monumentation CSD is required when a boundary mark of a type specified in rule 7.2 is placed.
- What happens if a redefinition is carried out and a CSD is not submitted because the person doing the work is not a licensed cadastral surveyor?
- The placement of a boundary mark by a non-LCS (unless under the supervision of a LCS) is an offence under sec 57 Cadastral Survey Act 2002.
- Will the monumentation CSD be a normal plan (e-survey) or a graphic description plan?
- It is expected to be a normal e-survey plan.
- Will the monumentation CSD be a type of CSD able to be picked from of a list within Landonline?
- Monumentation will be a plan type and hence will be allocated a number.
- Will there be a fee for a monumentation CSD?
- This is yet to be determined. We will advise surveyors as part of the transition process.
