Q&As on Transitioning to the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010
These questions and answers relate to the transition to the new Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010. They were formed during a series of education seminars on the new Rules held around the country in September 2009.
Other questions and answers on the new Rules are also available.
If you have a question, please email newcadastralrules@linz.govt.nz.
- Will there be guidelines published on the criteria for dispensations issued for surveys affected by the transition?
- Some dispensations may be considered in extenuating circumstances. In April 2010, LINZ will advise process and criteria for dispensations.
- What is LINZ going to do about tenure review surveys (that are currently exempt from some of the 2002/2 Rules) if they are not lodged by the time the new Rules are implemented?
- Survey contracts will be timed so that it is clear which Rules are to be used and hence when the datasets must be lodged. Most of the current exemptions are written into the 2010 Rules and a new prescription form for Tenure Review surveys will cover the changed Rules.
- Will requisition fees be waived during the Rules introduction?
- There is currently no plan to waive the requisition fee. E-survey users will be advised if this changes.
- What will be required for a survey job that has already started, or been completed, but not lodged until after the commencement of the new Rules?
- These CSDs are to comply with the 2010 Rules. Dispensations will only be considered in extenuating circumstances.
- What will happen to CSDs caught in workspace on go-live date?
- After go-live date, these CSDs will need to be reviewed and may require additional capture work, such as re-allocating accuracy classes to boundary observations and re-allocating mark purposes. LINZ will publish a checklist to help surveyors review CSDs sitting in their workspace.
This will also apply to CSDs that have been returned on requisition unless it is re-lodged without survey capture changes. In this case it will be treated as a 2002/2 compliant CSD.
- I am concerned with the amount of re-work that may occur if my survey was started but not finished in May 2010, especially the recapture of information into the CSD?
- We are working to minimise the effort required, though some changes to the captured information may be necessary. Refer to Ensuring a Survey in terms of the 2002/2 Rules also complies with the 2010 Rules for Cadastral Survey.
