Interpretation guide
An interim guide has been published to assist interpretation of the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010.
Part 1 covers Rules 1-7, 13-15, and dispensations. It explains the content of the new Rules, the relationships between related rules and provides examples to aid interpretation. It also highlights differences between the requirements under the Rules and past practices.
Part 2, covering CSDs, will be issued separately.
Your feedback on the interpretation guide is welcome. Depending on the feedback received, updated versions of the interpretation guide will be published with a new effective date on the cover. It is therefore important that you always refer to the website for the most up-to-date version.

Transitioning to the new Rules
Transitioning to the new Rules is underway. The go-live date for the 2010 Rules and Landonline Release 3.4 is currently planned for 24 May 2010. The key consideration for surveyors is to plan for early lodgement of CSDs that are in terms of the current Rules. The following fact sheet has important information to help you manage surveys through to the introduction of the 2010 Rules.

Surveys will need to be undertaken in terms of the new Rules if these surveys are to be lodged after the commencement date of the new Rules. From this date, changes to Landonline will mean that only surveys complying with the new Rules can be lodged.
The following document outlines steps surveyors can take in situations where it is uncertain if a survey that complies with the current Rules is also able to comply with the new Rules. These steps allow surveyors to comply as best as possible with both sets of Rules and help minimise the number of changes required to affected cadastral survey datasets.
