Taking into account the feedback received, an expert committee is reviewing the submissions to make recommendations to the Surveyor-General on the shape of the final Rules.

Background & process

LINZ is reviewing the Rules for Cadastral Survey, which specify the Surveyor-General's standards for the conduct of cadastral surveys and for cadastral survey datasets.

Public consultation on the proposed new Rules began on 15 October 2007 and ended on 1 March 2008.

LINZ ran presentations on the proposals in the Rules during October and November 2007.

Following consultation an expert committee made up of survey practitioners, stakeholders and LINZ staff will review the submissions and make recommendations to the Surveyor-General on the shape of the final Rules, taking into account the feedback received.

The finalised Rules are expected to be ready towards the end of 2008. It is anticipated the new Rules would come into effect some time after the middle of 2009.
