Other Property Record Providers
LINZ provides access to a large number of land records as well as an online service for land professionals called Landonline. If you are not a land professional, there are a number of property record providers who can help with land record searches, reports, research and value-added services.
Local councils & territorial authorities
Local councils and territorial authorities hold a number of land and property records. Some of these include:
- Land Information Memoranda (LIM) reports
- building reports
- record references
- aerial photography
- district plans.
Search agents
Search agents can help you order a copy of a land record, such as land titles and plans, if you don't have the required information. They can often locate records using a street address and can help with more complicated searches or historical research. They can often also provide additional information like property sales.
Other commercial providers
Commercial providers, such as qualified valuers and licensed cadastral surveyors, can provide further specialist information and services, including:
- property valuations
- land surveying
- aerial photography
- mapping services.
Archives New Zealand
LINZ stores a number of historical land records with Archives New Zealand. Archway is an Archives New Zealand system for searching the government records they hold, including LINZ records. Currently, Archway provides descriptive information only, not access to the text of the records themselves. You can view the records at Archives New Zealand.
