Public Counters to Close in February 2009
Due to LINZ's move to 100% electronic lodgement of land transactions, manual processing work carried out by our processing centres has significantly reduced. As a result, public counters in our Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin centres will close from 23 February 2009.
Limited counter services will remain available in the Hamilton and Christchurch processing centres for a small number of exceptions to electronic lodgement.
LINZ is committed to maintaining public access to our records. The closure of counters will result in some changes in how records are accessed and we have tried to ensure that any impacts on customers are minimal.
Ordering land records
As now, the public can order copies of land records online or by fax or post.
Visiting reading rooms
Reading rooms at the five processing centres will remain open after 23 February 2009. People wanting to visit a reading room will need to book an appointment after 23 February 2009. This is to ensure that LINZ can make available any records needed for on-site viewing.
Website changes
LINZ will be updating the online forms customers use to order a copy of a land record and view original paper records. The forms will include help and a simplified process.
The surrounding web content will also be improved to make it easier for customers to find the land record they want.
Printable paper forms have already been updated, with new fact sheets available, for ordering or viewing land records, making land record correction requests and lodging manual dealings.
