Update on Relocation of Christchurch Processing Centre Records

10 August 2010

In November 2010, our Christchurch Processing Centre will be moving to new premises. In preparation for this, all roll plans previously held in our Christchurch reading room have been relocated and can now be viewed at Archives New Zealand, Christchurch.

Other records in the process of being transferred to Archives New Zealand Christchurch are all deeds registers and many other historical records for Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough and Westland.

Access to these remaining records is limited during the main move periods. Refer to the factsheet (PDF 302KB) that explains the availability of records during these times, or see the schedule of record locations on this website.

All surveyors’ field books and traverse records for Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough and Westland will be retained by the LINZ Christchurch Processing Centre.

Why the move?

The move is to ensure long-term preservation of the records, improve public access to the records, and prepare for the relocation of the Christchurch Processing Centre in November 2010.
