Core Paper Records Project

Core Paper Records update - August 2007

In March 2007, LINZ released an information paper that updated progress on the development of the strategy for managing core survey and title paper records in the future. The paper:

  • provided background to this work
  • looked at storage and preservation of original core survey and title paper records
  • outlined ways to facilitate continued access to the records when public counters close.

The closure of public counters at Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland has been pushed out to late 2008. These closures are now intended to coincide with the phased rollout of functions that enable electronic lodgement of titles on Landonline. Key stakeholders will be consulted before these counters close.

It has also been agreed that public counters in Christchurch and Hamilton will remain open to provide a residual service for our customers.

It's intended to ensure that the transition from counters to no counters in Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland is seamless for our customers. Our intention is to enhance access to our survey and title information in the future. LINZ will soon release a high-level strategy on the future management, access and storage of core survey and title paper records.
