Topo50 Data Files Released for Free Download

Land information New Zealand (LINZ) has released data files for each map in the Topo50 map series. The new files are available for free download from the LINZ website in two formats, Shape and LSIFF (vector data).

These files complement image files already available for the Topo50 map series as Tiff and GeoTiff files (raster images). All files are sourced directly from the LINZ Topographic database used in the production of the Topo50 map series.

This download option will contain the most current Topo50 map information released by LINZ in both digital image and data formats. This option will ensure new map versions are available to the public in a more timely fashion.

TopoOnline, the current method for obtaining LINZ topographic map data, will be replaced by this download service. TopoOnline will no longer be available from 30 June 2010.

Use the ‘Choose a map’ tool to select the map you wish to download.
