Land Transfer Act consultation opens

5 March 2018

Land Information New Zealand and the Registrar-General for Land are consulting on new regulations, standards and directives in preparation for the implementation of the Land Transfer Act 2017.

The ability for people to buy and sell land easily, while having confidence in the security of their property rights, is vital for New Zealand’s economic and social well-being.

The Land Transfer Act 2017 (LTA) was passed by Parliament in July 2017 and will come into force in late 2018. The Act ensures New Zealand’s land transfer system continues to be modern and world-leading.

This consultation gives people the chance to comment on new Regulations, standards and directives that support the Act. We would welcome feedback from interested parties to help ensure the transition to the new Act is as smooth as possible.

Consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 27 April 2018.
