COVID-19 Interim Guideline remains in force

LINZ’s Interim Guideline for Authority and Identity Requirements and Electronic Signing of Documents, which was published in March 2020 to help practitioners deal with challenges related to COVID-19, remains in force.

This will apply while New Zealand is in the new traffic light system until the interim guideline is revoked. The interim guideline can be relied on in any case where a practitioner cannot meet a client in person due to COVID-19. Examples of this might be where a firm has a vaccinated-only policy for all clients and needs to provide a service for an unvaccinated client, or where the client is self-isolating or in MIQ.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will publish notice of any future change or revocation on our website.

Still time to lodge old rules surveys before Christmas

Time is rapidly running out to lodge cadastral survey datasets (CSDs) prepared under the old Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 (RCS 2010) and avoid delays for your clients.

Although 24 February 2022 is the last day you can lodge a RCS 2010 CSD with us, we’ve already seen increasing numbers of lodgements due to the Christmas break, and the 1 February 2022 survey and title fee increases.

This means our processing times are likely to increase too, so it’s a good idea to avoid delays and tick this off your 2021 to-do list. If a CSD is requisitioned and relodged after 25 February, it will need to be converted to be in accordance with the new Cadastral Survey Rules 2021 (CSR 2021).

New cadastral survey guideline on Crown subdivisions

We’ve published a new guideline on Crown subdivisions under the Cadastral Survey Rules 2021 (CSR 2021) to support surveyors undertaking cadastral surveys and preparing cadastral survey datasets (CSDs).

The Cadastral Survey Guidelines integrate new guidance on the CSR 2021 with existing material from various sources to create a one-stop-shop of information.

The new survey guideline and an index to all the published guidelines can be found on our website:

Reminder: new survey and title fees 1 February

Our new survey and title fees go live 1 February 2022. We’re giving you a heads-up before the holiday break so that you can continue your preparations before the changes come into effect.

As we’ve let you know previously, the fees are increasing to better reflect the cost of delivering Landonline services and to support a better, more resilient system. They are cost recovery only.

The resources below on our website will help you adjust to the new fees. You can use these when preparing for work after 1 February 2022. If you'd like to contact us about the new fees please email modernisinglandonline@linz.govt.nz

Spatial View getting a makeover

Spatial View in Landonline is getting a new look in 2022. How you use the functionality will change because we’re updating the technology to ensure it’s more robust and future-focused. However, what you use it for will remain the same.

There will be training resources available soon.

We’ll let you know closer to the time when this will go live in the new year.
