Kia ora
A very warm welcome to this August edition of Landwrap.
Highlights this month include confirmation that all external elements of new Landonline are now in open release, with Plan Generation for Survey going live.
We also want to mention that we are making good progress with moving our internal kaimahi [staff] fully on to new Landonline. Just to note that we are taking care to move our kaimahi in tranches to ensure turnaround times are not adversely impacted.
And a shoutout to our Land Titles Committee and Survey Working Group (some pictured below) who met virtually on Monday 4 August for a Lunchtime Land Linkup.
We discussed diagrams attached to Titles, the Titles backlog and Plan Generation transition and decommissioning Legacy Landonline.

We’d love your feedback
Now the Modernising Landonline programme has reached a major delivery milestone, we would like to hear about your overall experience.
We would appreciate your thoughts on the overall programme, communication, and how best to update you in the future.

Consultation on Statutory and Evidentiary Requirements for E-Dealing Standard
The Registrar-General of Land will shortly open consultation on the proposed new Statutory and Evidentiary Requirements for E-Dealing Standard, which is an update of the Certification of Electronic Instruments (Statutory Requirements and Retention of Evidence) Standard 2018.
The changes are not extensive. Some changes have been made to add to, remove or update the statutory requirements, and some guidance material has been removed from the evidentiary requirements as this is best dealt with in regulatory guidelines and/or web commentary.
Key stakeholders were invited to comment on an earlier draft of the standard, and their feedback is incorporated into the proposals. This will now be your chance to share your thoughts on the proposals.
Consultation will open on Monday 11 August and will be available on our consultation page.

A reminder about requirements for Land Transfer instruments
Instruments lodged for registration must include the information required under the Land Transfer Act 2017 (LTA) and Land Transfer Regulations 2018, or other relevant statutes.
The required information should generally be contained in the body of the instrument itself. Instruments may also incorporate standard provisions by reference to a memorandum registered under s209 of the Land Transfer Act 2017 where it is practical to do so.
For further guidance, read our information required for instruments page:
Information required for instruments | Land registration Guidance
Registration process for s209 LTA Memoranda
We have published guidance on the process for registering a memorandum under section 209 of the Land Transfer Act 2017 setting out standard terms and conditions that may be incorporated by reference in subsequently registered instruments.
For more information see Memoranda: Registration process for s209 LTA Memoranda | Land registration Guidance.
New Landonline Plan Generation now available
On Wednesday 30th July, new Plan Generation was released to all Survey users, shortly after LINZ delivered a webinar on the new functionality, attended by over 500 customers.
Plan Generation is the final piece of Survey functionality needed in new Landonline so we can fully transition from Legacy.
Our plan is to remove access to Legacy Plan Generation and Search at the end of September 2025. Survey users will receive further notifications as we get closer to the switch off time.
The following pages have been created to help your transition to new Plan Generation:
- Important information for transitioning to new Plan Generation (this page includes a link to our recent webinar).
- Key differences with Legacy Landonline Plan Generation
- Getting started with Plan Generation
