Key differences with Legacy Landonline Plan Generation

You may notice small differences in the look, navigation, and functionality of new Plan Generation compared with Legacy Landonline.

On this page, where functionality differs from Legacy Landonline, we briefly explain how it works in the new application.

Browser behaviour

It’s possible to have the same dataset open in 2 browser windows or tabs at the same time, for example Plan Generation and Capture. However, this is likely to create data loss issues.

To prevent this happening:

  • ensure you exit Plan Generation before undertaking Capture edits
  • only access Plan Generation from Capture (the Plan Generation icon in the Workflow control panel).

Define diagram options in Define Diagrams

There are 2 icons for each diagram type – Survey, Primary, or Non-primary – 1 for defining by polygon, and 1 for defining by rectangle.

There is no option to define a diagram by circle.

Drawing abuttal or RT boundaries in Define Diagrams

You can manually draw abuttal lines, but not Record of Title (RT) lines, in Define Diagrams. You can also add either type of line within Layout Plan Sheets. Use dashed line style for abuttals, and dash-dot line style for RT lines.

Selecting diagrams in Define Diagrams

Once you select Select Diagrams in Define Diagrams, all defined diagrams turn blue. If you have overlapping or a lot of defined diagrams, it can be difficult to differentiate between the different diagram types (Primary, Non-primary, Survey). A diagram label will show the associated colour until you select the diagram, at which point both the diagram and the label turn pink. This can make it difficult to know if you are selecting the correct diagram for deletion or editing.

Ensure you take care when selecting diagrams.

Deleting user-defined diagrams in Define Diagrams

When you select a user-defined diagram and select Delete selected features, the diagram is deleted with no warning or confirmation pop-up.

Selecting lines in Layout Plan Sheets

When selecting a line, only the line is selected, not the coordinates. To distort a line, you must select the coordinates.

Adding user-added text in Layout Plan Sheets

  • Use the Add label icon to add user-added text. Left-click to select the location for the label and a text-box will appear. Once added, you can edit the text either directly in the text box on the layout sheet, or from the properties panel for the label.
  • If you add illegal characters to user-added labels you will see a warning Invalid character(s) entered. You will need to delete the invalid character to save the label.
  • Spell-check is available for user-added labels (you’ll need to enable spell-check in your browser settings).

Label overlap and masking in Layout Plan Sheets

  • There is no full masking where a label overlaps another element in the layout sheets. Vector dimensions now have a "halo" around the characters.
  • Mark symbols will appear above a label where there is overlap.

You will need to ensure that you position your labels carefully so they are clear. We have provided an example below of how overlaps will appear for various label types.

Working with diagrams in Layout Plan Sheets

  • If you move a line or label or distort a diagram outside the existing diagram extent, the diagram extent will expand to fit the content. Note: This also applies to hidden features.
  • If there are features outside the page border, a warning message will appear when you attempt to save, preview layout, compile plans, or leave the layout sheets.

Blank pages in layout sheets

In Layout Plan Sheets, where a page is blank or has no diagram added, it will be included in the compiled Record of Survey and/or Title plan. Check your layout sheets or Preview layout for any blank pages, then delete these from Layout Plan Sheets before compiling your plans. You will need to check both the Title sheets and Survey sheets separately.

Non-primary parcel label circles in compiled plans

Some non-primary parcel label circles may appear different from other parcel label circles in your compiled plans. Note that these may look uniform in layout plan sheets, but once you compile your plans you will see a difference in size.

In the example pictured, the circle around the parcel label for parcel:

  • I is smaller than the others
  • M is larger than the others.

image of multiple non-primary parcels on a plan sheet. Labels for parcels A-D, and H-T are visible. The labels for parcel I and M are highlighted, as their surrounding circles appear diferecnt from the others.

As long as the labels are clear and unambiguous you will not be requisitioned for the circles not being uniform.

Compile plan(s)

When you select Compile plan(s), the Layout Plan Sheets window doesn’t automatically close once the process has been successfully initiated. A success message will appear, and once you have dismissed this you can safely close Layout Plan Sheets.
