Applying for pastoral consents
Find out what activities need the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and how to apply for consent.
Pastoral lessees need the consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands before carrying out various types of work on the land.
The table below lists the activities which need the Commissioner’s consent. If you have any questions about whether a proposed activity requires consent, or you are unsure what sort of information you need to provide, please email pastoral@linz.govt.nz.

Consent for minor activities
The Commissioner has granted consent to all pastoral lessees to undertake “minor activities” such as those only requiring a handheld shovel or spade.
This consent includes activities such as tree felling or sowing seed that are carried out within a fenced-in area around the homestead located on the pastoral lease.
Transfer your lease, or to sublease or sublicense

Fees Payable Upon Application / Request
All amounts are GST inclusive. Charges for the preparation of documents by the Commissioner and the registration of documents by the Commissioner payable on application / request under the Land Act 1948 in respect of:

Consent for minor activities
The Commissioner has granted consent to all pastoral lessees to undertake "minor activities” such as using a handheld shovel or spade. The consent also extends to activities undertaken within a fenced in area around the homestead located on the pastoral lease, such as tree felling or sowing seed.
